BLAIR SUMMERS

Blair Summers is an artist/curator in Oklahoma City. Her recent practice involves deconstructing systems of American consumer culture and industry, relating to capitalism, corporatization, and the perpetuation of asymmetrical social contracts.

Summers will present on Thursday, April 12 in Rogers during Art on the Bricks. Demonstrated through morning routine, the performance Consumptive unpacks the multifaceted, yet analogous meanings of its title term; at once, referring to ingestion, illness, obsession, consumerism, and exploitation of labor/resources. In particular, this performance focuses on the systemic corruption within regional oil/gas politics, concerning social disintegration and consequential damage.
