<image:caption>I am a skateboarder, a fisherman and a performance artist. Skating teaches me how to slip and slide through the changing landscape, fishing shows me how to read the water and find prime lies while performance art allows me through ritual to heal the collective wound. These are my spiritual disciplines. "Chiaromonte tenuously weaves between contemporary issues and those which are considered timeless. He doesn’t seem to replace one preoccupation for the other. In a sense his performance seems primarily focused on the act of ceremony and mythmaking. The audience is offered the task of drawing the relevances and transposing the signification of the performance themselves. It is precisely the overlap and the shift of the signifiers he uses that draws my attention." Crosby McCloy, Number Art Journal #5 performancechiaromonte.blogspot.com  </image:caption>

<image:caption>Originally trained as a sculptor, Ford has conducted explorations in the fields of sculpture and printmaking and, more recently, drawing and performance art. His performances currently look to everyday life for paradigms that can be isolated and examined in durational events which retrace certain actions and activities observed in life. <image:title>NWA 2017 Artists - NWA Prison Story Project</image:title>
<image:caption>On The Row is a staged reading of the stories of 10 men currently on Death Row in Arkansas. The work was collected over the summer and fall of 2016 through a creative writing class led by Kathy McGregor whose team met in-person with death row prisoners multiple times at Varner State Prison. The writings of these men were then edited and have been presented as a staged reading by actors of our NWA community. The Prison Stories Project continues to respectfully carry the stories of these men on Death Row out of the silence of their solitary confinement. Since 2001 The Prison Story Project has entered correctional centers to give men and women the tools to tell their stories. The guiding principle is that no voice should be silenced and the hope was that a staged reading of their own writings would help bridge the gap between the incarcerated and the communities to which they hope to return. This effort evolved to include those who had been silenced most of all – the men on death row. The staged reading of their own words is not meant to deny or ignore wrong, but to affirm each man’s humanity. www.nwaprisonstories.com   NWA Prison Story Project will will be performing at 21c Bentonville on Friday, March 31. Performance begins at 730pm. This is a free event. Please register here.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Kaia Gilje and Lorene Bouboushian’s collaborative performances emerged from the desire to deconstruct a performance situation, throwing the room, the performance setting, and the social milieu into relief. Their years of research have formed an improvisational score-based performance relationship that blends vocalizing, moving, and audience/room interaction. Know What Smokes attempts to activate sensation through touch that ranges from tender, to sensual, surprising, painful, mundane, and absurd. Using a system of physical communication and exploration in which sight is removed, they engage with each other through submission, cooperation, and confrontation. <image:title>Rosary Solimanto - Alive...</image:title>
<image:caption>Historically the social injustice of disability identity was constructed from eugenics programs and institutionalized biomedical infrastructure. Art on this subject is overdue to empower through a visual language and social platform to prejudicial misconceptions in effort to advocate disability pride and awareness. Objectification and perfectibility of the human body will continue to prevail, until art explores the oppressive stigmatizations associated with disability identity. Solimanto sources her material from exposing the conflicts she faces with multiple sclerosis. Solimanto's art transforms space allowing the audience to become voyeurs entering her private medical world to expose the heightened oppressive realities and truths.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Spring Res - SHAWN ESCARCIGA</image:title>
<image:caption>Shawn Escarciga (Brooklyn, NY) is a multidisciplinary artist who uses language and the body to generate collage and create new paradigms around performance. Shawn makes work that questions and subverts normative power structures and the institutions that enforce them, especially those that perpetuate strict hierarchies and value systems around class, gender, and intimacy. They seek to establish parallel structures and queer understandings of joy, power, and control, while pushing against the rich-kid-narrow- career-trajectory-commericalism of the art world. Shawn uses objects that are readily accessible and usually low-fi to make work about access, monotony, and struggle. Shawn is the founder and co-organizer of the NYC Low-Income Artist + Freelancer Relief Fund and the former Assistant Director of NYC arts non-profit Culture Push.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Lela Welch graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s Art and Design department with a BFA in 2018. She has since participated in Inverse Performance Art Residencies in 2018 and 2019 and done durational performances in Los Angeles, Los Osos and San Luis Obispo. She uses performance and object making to create a bridge between artist, action and object as well as uses personal histories of addiction and generational semiotics to explore visibility, relevance and power.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Jessica Elaine Blinkhorn is an Atlanta based artist whose work educates and advocates on behalf of the disAbled and LGBTQ+ Communities. In her performances, Blinkhorn focuses on intimacy and disability, accessibility, identity politics, and social and financial inequalities that plague the communities she seeks to represent. "My Momma has always said 'Jessie'laine, you gotta big mouth!' In the past I used it to get attention. Now, I use it to promote change...and still get attention!"</image:caption>

      <image:title>Spring Res - ANA SOFÍA CAMARGA</image:title>
<image:caption>Ana Sofía Camarga is a conceptual artist based in Panama City, Panama. Her work is rooted in her personal experiences as a young woman of color from and based in what is known today as Latinoamerica. Through her performances and installations, Camarga uses diverse media to recreate domestic objects, actions, and/or scenarios that have been decontextualized from their intended function. Camarga has been known for biting clay, mopping paint sewing underwear into quilts, and most recently for posting private nude self-portraits intended for her cybernetic lovers. Camarga has exhibited in the United States, in various collective shows in Northwest Arkansas. Among which, stands out her participation at the Inverse Performance Art Festival. In her home country, she has exhibited at Arte Nómada Exhibition (2018), and Subasta MAC (2019), the annual auction of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Panamá. “He Sentado Cabeza,” her latest exhibition and installation, was a solo show presenting her bachelor thesis and latest work at the apartment she rented along with two more people.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Spring Res - JR</image:title>
<image:caption>JR is a Bay Area based wordsmith with a deep fascination with anatomical oddities and risque potentialities. He derives artistic insight from eclectic sources — where nature is culture, when bodies traverse binaries, and why people love prejudices. JR's primary materials have been airplane seat belts (that he cannot return to the seller), syringes of all stripes (that he should not return to the seller) and, most importantly, Asian diasporic silences (that he must somehow return to the seller). He has performed live in SOAS, London (2019) and Venice International Performance Art Week (2020).</image:caption>
